McKibben decides not to give up on Jenna and to take her to the formal. He arrives too late as everyone has already left.
Jenna feels that maybe Jake is the one for her and they kiss.. Matty, then shows up. Jake shows Jenna that she can be herself. Without either of them letting Jake know that they were together, they talk in front of Jake. He says that there was a girl and Jenna says that she's sorry and she thinks that it's too late.
When Jake and Jenna get back to her house, she asks if he wants to come in. He says yes. Then, she asks if it's okay that he doesn't.
She tells him that this was the first time that anyone, besides her parents, have held her hand in public. She likes it. They manage to set off the house alarm, and Jake goes home.
Jenna, looking for the alarm code, goes into the junk drawer and finds paper... The same paper that her "Care-frontation" was printed on. She realizes that her mother wrote the letter....
Ohmygod.
